Along with Colour, Typography is one of the most important elements of good design. Whether it is a custom typeface in a logo, text on a brilliant printed poster or part of a fantastic web design, typography must be carefully chosen. Having great typography across your brand, your brand assets and your website will set you apart from your competitors.
There is more to colour than just picking a random combination of what looks good. Colours affect our emotions and behaviours, they set the tone and attract people’s attention towards your brand and web design. Using the right colour or combination of colours in your brand will make a big difference.

This week, we are going to continue your journey with creating a lasting brand you can be proud of. Creating a brand can be a difficult task and is often a very personal and subjective journey. However, I want to start you off thinking about some of the basics of your brand and outlining a few things you should think about.
If you’re like me, you’re full of ideas for new projects, side projects, businesses and new online ventures. When one of these ideas develops and you think you’re ready to set it up as a standalone thing, you’re going to want to start thinking about your brand. But wait… hold your horses, take a step back from pretty logos and company names, you’ve got some work to do first.
If you run a blog on your website, you’re going to want some beautiful imagery to go along with it. Images improve the click-ability and readability of a blog post, when people share your post via Facebook or Twitter the first image in the post will be used by default. So, even if you don’t want to, you really should at least include one main or “lead” image.
